Before you start
On the WordPress side you need AcrossAI MCP Manager and AcrossAI Pro installed and active, plus an administrator account. Pro supplies the Gemini connector, which is where you generate the OAuth credentials Gemini Enterprise asks for. If you have not installed MCP Manager yet, follow the Get Started guide first.
On the Google side you need admin rights in Gemini Enterprise. In Business Edition only Team admins see the option to add an MCP server; in Standard, Plus and Frontline the server is created as a data store in the Google Cloud Console. Gemini calls your site from Google’s servers, so the site must be publicly reachable over HTTPS with a trusted certificate. See the Gemini connector overview for how the connector works.
How to connect Gemini Enterprise to WordPress
Step 1
Generate OAuth credentials in WordPress
In wp-admin go to AcrossAI → MCP, open the server you want to expose, and open its Gemini connector panel. Click Generate credentials. The panel shows everything Gemini Enterprise will ask for: the MCP server URL, the client ID, the client secret, the authorization URL, the token URL and the scopes.
On a default install the MCP server URL is https://example.com/wp-json/acrossai/mcp, with your own domain in place of the example. Click Reveal next to the client secret and keep it somewhere safe until you have pasted it into Google.
Gemini Enterprise does not use Dynamic Client Registration, so these credentials have to be generated up front. The consumer Gemini app and Gemini CLI register themselves automatically and never need this step.
Step 2 — Business Edition
Add the MCP server at business.gemini.google
- Sign in as a Team admin at business.gemini.google and go to Settings & help → your team → Manage team → Connected apps.
- Click Add MCP Server. Give it a name (for example “AcrossAI”), a short description, and paste the MCP server URL from step 1.
- Under Authentication settings choose OAuth 2.0 and paste the client ID, client secret, authorization URL, token URL and scopes from step 1.
- Click Verify Auth. Your WordPress site opens a consent screen — sign in and approve it.

Step 2 — Standard, Plus or Frontline
Create a Custom MCP Server data store in Google Cloud
- Open the Google Cloud Console, go to Gemini Enterprise → Data stores and click Create data store.
- Search for and select Custom MCP Server, choose a multi-region for the connector and give it a name.
- Paste the MCP server URL from step 1. It must be HTTPS and StreamableHTTP; SSE is not supported.
- Choose OAuth 2.0 and paste the client ID, client secret, authorization URL, token URL and space-separated scopes. Enable PKCE if your policy requires it.
- Click Create and wait for the data store status to become Active.
Step 3
Enable the actions Gemini may use
New MCP connections start with every action switched off. Open the Actions page for the server, click Reload custom actions, tick the actions you want Gemini to be able to call (up to 100), then click Enable Actions.
Start small. Enable read-only actions first, confirm they behave as expected, then add the ones that change content. Your team can also use tool annotations (read-only and destructive hints) to require extra confirmation before destructive calls.
Step 4
Test it in Gemini
Open Gemini Enterprise and start a new conversation. Ask something harmless to confirm the connection works — “Which plugins on this site need updating?” is a good first test. If Gemini asks you to sign in, you will be sent to the consent screen on your own WordPress site.
Every request runs as the WordPress user who approved the consent screen, with that user’s permissions. Approve as the account you want Gemini to act as.

Frequently asked questions
Can I connect the free Gemini app at gemini.google.com?
No. The consumer Gemini app does not accept custom MCP servers — its connectors are partner-only. For personal use, connect Gemini CLI to WordPress, which supports custom MCP servers and signs in through the same OAuth flow.
Do I need AcrossAI Pro?
Yes, for Gemini Enterprise. Enterprise requires pre-generated OAuth credentials, and the Generate credentials button is part of the Gemini connector in AcrossAI Pro. Gemini CLI works with the free MCP Manager.
Does my site data pass through AcrossAI servers?
No. Gemini connects straight to your own domain and every request, including the sign-in, ends at your /wp-json/ route. There is no AcrossAI relay in the path. Google does make those requests from its own infrastructure, and whatever Gemini reads is processed under your Google Workspace terms.
Why does Gemini Enterprise reject SSE?
Every Gemini Enterprise edition requires the StreamableHTTP transport. MCP Manager serves your MCP endpoint over StreamableHTTP, so the URL from step 1 works as is.
How do I disconnect Gemini?
Remove the MCP server (or data store) in Gemini Enterprise, or revoke the connection on your own site from the Gemini connector’s Connections view under AcrossAI → MCP. Access is checked on every request, so revoking on the WordPress side takes effect immediately.
Troubleshooting
I cannot see Add MCP Server
In Business Edition only Team admins see it. Ask a Team admin to add the server; once it is enabled, everyone on the team can use it. Nothing on your WordPress site controls this option.
Verify Auth fails, or the consent screen never finishes
Gemini calls your site from Google’s servers, so the site must be publicly reachable over HTTPS with a trusted certificate. A staging site behind basic auth, a “coming soon” plugin or a firewall rule that challenges non-browser traffic will all fail. Set permalinks to something other than Plain, make sure no security plugin blocks /wp-json/, and exclude the MCP routes from page and edge caching. Check the client ID and secret were pasted without extra spaces.
The connection works but Gemini has no actions
New connections start with every action disabled. Open the server’s Actions page, click Reload custom actions, and enable the actions you want. If the list itself is empty, install Abilities Manager and check the server’s Tools and Abilities tabs under AcrossAI → MCP.
The data store never becomes Active
This is the Standard, Plus and Frontline flow. It usually means Google could not reach the MCP URL or complete the OAuth exchange. Confirm the URL opens from outside your network, that it is HTTPS, and that the authorization and token URLs match the ones in your Gemini connector panel exactly.
